Hello! I am Kaitlin Carroll, a painter and graphic designer living in San Jose, CA with my fiancé, Avery. This year we bought our first home! My studio is now in a small sun room on the front porch of our 101 year old home. It’s been interesting transition into this small space (7.5 ft x 8 ft), but with windows on 3 sides, the studio gets the most beautiful light all day.
The light in here is seriously gorgeous.
This snake plant is about 4 years old and survived a cross country move. It’s pretty happy here in the studio. I salvaged the wood frame from some bad garage sale art. It’ll get stretched up after my next canvas order. I work from both pre stretched canvases and hand built canvases.
My palette is a glass table top from a table my mom wasn’t using anymore. I’ve had it for years. I love a glass palette for easy clean up.
My favorite brush is this blue size 16 flat brush from Princeton At & Brush Co. My landscapes are hazy and atmospheric, this brush is a blending work horse.
This airy, glowy space has become such a haven. I love working in here. There are limitations to working in such a small space (canvas storage). It has been wonderful learning how to make the space work best for me.
I love working with a really reduced palette. These 5 colors are what I use to create almost any color I could need. I feel that it gives my work a specific and personal tone.
