Preparing for a launch was incredibly daunting for me and ended up being this looming monster of a task that began some time in around June or July of this year. I struggled a lot with perfecting my designs, tracking down the manufacturers to fit my many specifications, and on top if it all I continued to waver about whether or not to launch at all. It's a scary thing especially when you're tackling it all on your own! I ended up taking advice from others to just go for it and ignore all my "what-if" fears.. and I'm so glad I did!
The big day was less big than I'd imagined but mostly due to my own over organization; the majority of the final touches were taken care of and it was more of a case of just pushing send or updating the website! That's definitely something I'd recommend to others; don't think as the launch day as a DAY in itself, plan it out for the week so when the big day domes, it's not as stressful as you thought.
Realities never meet expectations, that's for sure. I couldn't have predicted a number of things that ended up happening after the launch. Even simple things like which products were more popular, what prompted people to subscribe to the newsletter, and I was so shocked to even sell out of products at one stage! The love and support that I have felt was amazing, and at the end of the day, it doesn't matter to me how many or few sales I made, because people love my work as much as I do. That's an amazing thing!
My next launch.. being the over organizer that I am, I've already started the beginnings of this already. The key lessons I want to remember during this one are to plan, plan, plan, BUT don't let all that planning get in the way of action. It's so tempting to stay in that safe space of preparing and to not actually take the risk of putting yourself out there, but now that I've learnt how worth it launching can be, I can't wait to do it again!
